Don't let your past failures set you up for another one

A lot of us let past failures get in the way for our future weight-loss success. This is one of the major challenges I help my Clients with. It's so easy to say "why is it going to work this time, it's never worked before" or "there is not point I fight for this, because I'm going to give up in two weeks anyway".

One of my favorite quotes is one by Napoleon Hill – “Success comes to those who become success conscious. Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become failure conscious.”

There is no reason why you wouldn't be able to reach your weight-loss goals. You just have to let go of the failures of the past and focus on the future and positive thinking.  You know that there will be bumps in the road ahead, but why would you set the road up at the beginning to be filled with obstacles and potential challenges before you even have started?

Don't let your past failures set you up for another one. Here are some tips on what to do:

  • Take one minute, hour and day at a time. No need to think about the next 6 months. Focus on now and here.
  • Start believing that you are worth it, because you are. The only person you should get healthy for is you. Do it for yourself, because you are worth the best life possible.
  • Visualize your goal, and don't think about how you are going to get there. Be patience and take one step at the time, and you will get there.
  • Plan your meals for the week and stick to them no matter what. It will make it easier to succeed and avoid unplanned eating.
