You can find the press release here.

Is this the kick in the butt you need to get healthy, fatty?! :)

Workout Challenge

I worked out last night. Did you? Send me a picture and progress report!

Having a difficult time to get motivated. Try this:

  • Tell yourself that this workout only takes 15 mins. That is nothing!
  • Put on your workout shoes. From there it’s easy.
  • Don’t even think about it. From now on working out is part of your life. It’s not an option, it’s a privilege.
  • Make an announcement on FB that you are going to workout today. That way your friends can keep you accountable.

This Week's Workout Challenge

Why wait until tomorrow Monday, when we can start today! Here is the Workout Challenge. When I lack motivation for working out or I'm tired I remind myself that training is a privilege, not a punishment. We are so lucky that we can move and take care of our health. So, I promise myself (and you) that I will do this workout three times this week. I will post my progress here on the blog, and on Instagram so that you can keep me honest. You are joining, right?!? It's always easier when you have a workout buddy, so please post or email (molander@stellibell.com) your progress so that we can motivate each other!

Let's live!

What is a LCHF lifestyle

LCHF stands for Low Carb High Fat; in other words, eating limited healthy carbohydrates and lots of healthy fats. LCHF means consuming real homecooked meals made out of quality produce, and it means feeding your body wholesome goodness. This also means removing all sugar and processed foods from your diet.

Some people think that LCHF is a high-protein diet, which is not true. You simply replace the unhealthy carbohydrates (processed foods) with high-quality carbohydrates (vegetables) and replace sauces with homemade sauces made with oil or real butter. You don’t make the portion sizes bigger. You just increase the percentage of fat so that you don’t have to be hungry. It’s that simple.

By following an LCHF lifestyle you are changing your body’s energy source from carbohydrates to fat. All carbohydrates turn into glucose (sugar) in our bodies. This is true for all kinds of carbohydrates - slow carbohydrates (vegetables, nuts etc) and fast carbohydrates (pasta, bread, and rice. When you eat carbohydrates the glucose level in your body increases, which means that the production of insulin (fat storing hormone) increases. The insulin prevents fat burning and stores the extra fat in the fat cells. If you cut down on the carbohydrates your body will need to use fat (the fat you eat and the fat on your body) as an energy source. So in essence, you are a fat burning machine.

You will notice that I haven't used the dreaded "D" word (diet) when describing LCHF. This isn't a diet; LCHF is a lifestyle. It might feel like a diet in the beginning while you start getting use to this new way of eating, but once you start to see and feel the benefits, it will be tough to go back to old habits. I’ve fallen back a couple of times (yes, I’m human) and every time, I’m amazed at how lousy I feel. I immediately get headaches, feel bloated, and become extremely tired. The extra energy you get and how great you feel with LCHF is better than any dessert in the world, including chocolate (and that says a lot!). And you can actually eat desserts following this lifestyle, so you have nothing to lose - except weight!

LCHF Basics

I had grilled chicken and oven baked cauliflower for dinner tonight. Looks yummy huh? I’ve been practicing “clean eating” for a while, but a couple of years ago when I went home to Sweden on vacation I noticed that everyone were following a LCHF, Low Carb High Fat, Lifestyle. Everywhere you turned you could read about it or find low carb products. I figured it was just another fad (Swedes always have some fad going on), but then I discovered that this was different.

I started following the LCHF lifestyle (I am after all Swedish… ) and I’ve never felt better. I’ve tried all diets out there (Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet, vegetarian, the cabbage soup diet etc etc etc etc...) and always failed…. I would feel deprived and hungry, and I couldn’t understand how any of these diets could become a “lifestyle”. LCHF is the only way I can live and enjoy life. I get to eat healthy foods, I’m never hungry and I eat things that I love like cheese and creamy sauces. What’s not to love??! I’ve always had problems with my stomach and gotten different advice from doctors – eat more fibers, eat less fibers etc– all those problems are now gone with LCHF. I have lost weight, I have more energy and my skin and nails are healthier.

LCHF is not just another low carb diet. It’s about eating high quality food and making sure you get all the nutrients you need. You get to eat good food without getting hungry.
