Walking is an fantastic exercise and one of my favorites. It's easy, convenient, inexpensive, amazingly good for you. And if you walk with a friend, a great way to catch up. Yet it's all too often overlooked when people consider which form of exercise to do.
I took over 13,000 steps at DisneyWorld and it felt great!
Benefits of walking as an exercise
- It's inexpensive since it requires little equipment other than a pair of good shoes.
- It's probably on of the safest form of exercise. Walkers stand little chance of injuries.
- Walking is one of the most efficient, low-impact workouts available. Walking and running burn about the same amount of calories per mile.
- Walking offers a host of long-term benefits ,such as lower risk of heart attacks and strokes.
- Walking lowers blood pressure , and may lower the risk of certain kinds of cancer.
- Walking also reduces stress. There is nothing like a long walk outdoors to enjoy the fresh air. It does wonders for the soul.
So go outside today and take a walk! What's a little bit of snow?! ;)
